He chuckled at the
thought as he leaned back and stared at the ceiling. When Sarah moved into
their neighbourhood with her parents and older sister, she was a
skinny girl, with pale skin, her wavy dark hair frizzy and always tied back
into a ponytail. She’d been ignored by the girls and teased by the boys. Until
the day she’d kicked the football. A smiled played on his lips. Yes, she’d been
one hell of a football player. He remembered how sick he’d felt when he heard
the other boys teasing her. Until he’d seen her in the park one day, too afraid
to go home, because she’d ripped her pants while climbing across a fence
running away from them. Her dad had just left and money had been tight.
He’d invited her to
his house and they’d been friends ever since.
Had they crossed the
line today? Had it been the atmosphere of the wedding that made them yearn for
someone, and they’d turned out to be that someone for each other? Had she simply
wanted to forget about her pain, and he’d been as good as anybody?

Book #3 of the Australian Sport Series - also the one I enjoyed the most :) Their love story is not your regular "thrills" one - you know, the one with shivers top to bottom and bottom to top - at the first sight :) It's a beautiful story about the friendship, strong and true, turning slowly into some profound feelings. They do not realize it at first, then they do not want to realize that, finally they are too scared to admit it... :) But it gets them anyways :D

For me this book had to happen. Markus and Sarah have been best friends forever and the only ones still single.
Despite the obstacles and the misunderstandings that litter their lives, they were always meant for each other. The chemistry between them is undeniable but thankfully they figure it out.
Iris does an amazing job creating believable characters, in real life situations with emotions that we've all experienced.
A great summer read full of love, laughter and enduring friendship.
