LITTLE BEGINNINGS
Jeri lives in Hobart where she owns a gallery. Since her divorce, many years ago, she's finally ready to "be" with a man again. But finding the right one seems to be harder than she thought.

He turned and met her gaze, a smile tugging at his lips. "Nice meeting you too. So you think there’s a broken pipe?”
She was about to strangle him and desperately hoped for Ely’s job to be a quick one so he’d return before she’d commit a crime. She let out a long breath and then said as calm as possible, “I run a gallery and these are my exhibits. At the moment the damage is a flooded floor and possibly some damage to the furniture. I’m not sure, I’ve been busy mopping.” Jeri studied him for a reaction but when none came she continued. “So there's obviously a broken pipe somewhere and I assume Ely thought you to be the best person to fix it.”
Although it was on the tip of her tongue to add that she doubted it, but thought she’d better keep that thought to herself.
He nodded. “I get you dry and fixed in no time.” And then he left. Hopefully in search for the leaking offender.
I do appreciate each single one of them!
Hehehe, she might be worried and frustrated, but he's not taking the bait. Great snippet, Iris, and very happy Anniversary! :)
ReplyDeletethanks Siobhan on both accounts :-)
DeleteI'd want to strangle him too!
ReplyDeleteOf course, my kitchen is currently torn up because the landlord is attempting to fix the broken hot water pipe, so I kind of want to strangle anyone associated with plumbing at the moment.
Hahaha ... I might come to you for some ideas ??? LOL. Thanks PT.
DeleteSo he is hot but a bit slow, that's too bad. He didn't arrive at a great time either. I love how she is trying so hard not to be more sarcastic and mean.
ReplyDeleteLOL ... thanks Linda.
DeleteWow. Body by Nike, brain by Mattel? :D
ReplyDeleteAt least Ely looks great by comparison!
*snort* ... That cracked me up, Sarah. Thanks! :-)
DeleteEnjoyed the snippet-- not her frustration. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen :-)
DeleteHe seems a bit slow, but he might shape up yet. Nice snippet.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Elaine, indeed :-)
DeleteI feel her aggravation. Great scene. :)
ReplyDeleteHe's probably hoping she calms down once the pipe is fixed. He has no idea what's going on in her head.
ReplyDeleteMen ... LOL .. Thanks Dianne :-)
DeleteThe frustration-- with the flood and otherwise-- comes right through. Nice work, Iris.
ReplyDeletethanks Jeff :-)
DeleteHis attitude is interesting, just so laid back. I can feel her frustration ratcheting up in response - I'd be the same! Very well done, enjoyed the snippet (although I'm worried about her art work - see I'm REALLY invested in the story!)
ReplyDeleteLOL .. thanks Veronica ... I'm hoping to be able to rescue the artwork ;-)
