FRESH BEGINNINGS
We continue with Fresh Beginnings, Jared's story as he travels through five states
in the US in a Motorhome. I used our itinerary from our US travels two years ago
and wrote a romance story around in.
Jared has just arrived in the US.
Enjoy!

"G'day!"
He stared at her and for some reason something tugged at his heart. Not that he
wanted that. He had no room for women, let alone American ones. They all were
on earth to make life complicated. Mark was constantly running around for
Sophie or Hope, even though Mark's wife was one in a million and little Hope
was simply adorable, especially when she was asleep.
She stared
at him for a moment, but then replied with the typical American twang in her
voice. "I know you said something, but I have no idea what."
He chuckled.
"It is dangerous to hitchhike," he repeated with exaggerated
pronunciation.
The woman
stepped a bit closer to the window. "Are you from Austria?"
He
laughed aloud.
"Australia,
I meant," she added, seemingly embarrassed by the mistake.

Thanks for all your comments,
I do appreciate each single one of them!
She's either very flustered or very bad at geography. LOL Cute snippet!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, Paula. We had the reply a couple of times. Honestly :-)
DeleteI don't think she is as confused by his Australian accent as she is flustered by his looks, lol. Austria, Australia, eh, just a few miles apart... Enjoyable snippet.
ReplyDeleteThank you Chelle .. and yes I might agree :-)
Deletelol- I got a kick out her being so flustered. I'm with Chelle. I believe it was his good looks that flustered her and not his accent. Great scene.
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen for your nice compliment. Really appreciate it.
DeleteThat's good about Austria. Most of my students get them confused. I'm working on it.
ReplyDeleteLOL ... "small country big mountains, big country no (or hardly any) mountains" .... Thanks Elaine, and good luck!
DeleteFun little snippet! I quite enjoy that he's warning her about the dangers of hitchhiking.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, he cares! :-)
DeleteNice touch the Austria/Australia. Not that I'm admitting we yanks make that mistake. :D
ReplyDeleteLOL .... Thanks Gem :-)
DeleteAt least she said, "Austria" and not, "autistic!"
ReplyDeleteLOL ... that'd be completely different matter all together :-) Thanks for stopping by Frank.
DeleteThis one was funny, she seems to typically American. But is he married? That would be back luck for her.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're saying she sounds American. It's often hard to "show" the difference in nationalities w/out going too much into clichés. Thanks Linda.
DeleteCute bit with the Austria/Australia mix up. Nice snippet, Iris.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeff !
DeleteOh these two are already adorable together! I love how he handles the Austria mistake, and I love that little added gem. I can just picture the way he talks too and I love it! Great snippet!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like them. I really appreciate that. Thanks!
