GENRE: ROMANCE—Love Will Find You by Iris Blobel
Ms. Blobel understands the essence of romance. At its heart a good romance has to be about the emotional connection between two people. Katie and Ty’s story is a poignant reminder that it is easy to fall in love, but building a relationship takes time, trust, and a willingness to open your heart. As a reader, I appreciate that there is much more to the story than sex. Yes the characters do steam up the sheets, but the scenes are tastefully done. The real story is about love’s rollercoaster ride, and it’s healing power. I won’t summarize the plot, nor belabor the point that this is a genre romance. In my humble opinion, reviews should tell you whether the book is worth reading, and this one is. Love Will Find You is the perfect book to take to the beach and read while soaking up the sun. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Blobel’s books.

This is the first book I read by author. I really enjoyed this book. I will have to read book 1 in this series. You can read this as a standalone

Book #3 of the Australian Sport Series - also the one I enjoyed the most :)
Their love story is not your regular "thrills" one - you know, the one with shivers top to bottom and bottom to top - at the first sight :) It's a beautiful story about the friendship, strong and true, turning slowly into some profound feelings. They do not realize it at first, then they do not want to realize that, finally they are too scared to admit it... :) But it gets them anyways :D

May I introduce: @RJonesAuthor "Taking a chance on Love"

EXCERPT:
She pulled her arms across her chest in an attempt to calm her shivering. Bright lights reflected from her rearview mirror, the only headlights she had seen since she had stopped on the side of the ride. Releasing a sigh of relief, she waited for flashing blue lights to interrupt the blackness surrounding the car. No blue lights. Her heart began racing at hearing a car door slam. She was alone, on a deserted highway. Checking the locks on her doors, she thought about driving away, but how far could she go with a flat tire?
A tap on the passenger window made her jump. "Hey."
The dark night made it impossible to see the face outside the passenger window. Fear made it impossible to move.
"Come on, Gin. It's wet out here."
No one else called her Gin. She hit the automatic button releasing the lock and Blake pulled the door open. Relief flooded her body and was replaced by anger.
"Blake — you nearly scared me to death."
"Not the best time for a flat tire. You're soaked."
"You're not so very dry yourself."
"Where are you headed?"
"I was on my way home. I had an early dinner with my family before they left for the weekend. Staying to play my piano wasn't a bad idea — I just got caught up in my music." She loved how her music could take her away from everything, but the downside was eventually she had to come back to reality. "Anyway, I was going through my options when you drove up."
"Your spare is lying in the mud."
"I was going to try changing it, but when the lightning started, I chickened out."
"Well, you can't drive all the way to Boston soaked to the skin. And I really don't want to change a tire in this downpour."
"So what do you suggest I do?"
"Let me take you back to your sister's house. You can stay the night and deal with the tire in the morning."
Virginia didn't respond, didn't want this moment to end. He was here, beside her and the intensity of how much she had missed him came crashing down upon her like tumultuous waves hitting a jagged rock wall along the seashore.
"Gin?"
She looked up. "That sounds good."
As he leaned over and pulled the keys from the ignition, it took all Virginia's willpower to keep from pulling him close.

Blurb:
Markus DeLeon and Sarah Winter’s lives couldn’t be more different… After three years away as the goalkeeper for an English soccer club, Markus has been happy to be back in Australia. He’d missed his family and friends, including Sarah. He’s known her since childhood, and often protected her from the teasing of other children and the troubling consequences of a broken home.

When they attend their friends’ wedding, a new light is cast on their friendship… Sarah is fresh out of a bad relationship, and Markus has always been the one she can confide in. Maybe it’s the magic of the wedding—or how stunning he looks in a tux—but the attraction between them intensifies in ways they’d never imagined.

But sometimes when risking what you have, you might lose everything… Following a passionate encounter, Markus isn’t sure how to handle this new aspect of his relationship with Sarah, and literally flees the scene for the coast. Sarah is unsure how to react to his sudden departure, but is soon knocked off course by misunderstandings and a frightening family emergency.

Markus realises his mistake and wants to make things right, but he also faces obstacles. He’s been offered an exciting new job, and an attractive newcomer to the neighbourhood is eager to claim his attention, though the last thing Markus needs is another confusing relationship.
Can Sarah and Markus face the fear and doubt—and the potential loss of their lifelong friendship—to give their love a chance?

Today's hook

“You’re such an ass. Honestly.”
He shrugged. “Baby, I just wanna make certain this is what you want.”
Studying him, she still couldn’t get past how sexy he looked.
Damn him.
They’d known each other for so long, and known each other so well. Her mouth curled in a smile when she remembered when their mouths connected for the first time. She’d thrown a bucket of beach sand at him, and he hadn’t talked to her for days. Hadn’t even shared his mother’s homemade pizza with her.
“I’d rather have a hot chocolate. I’m sure the chance of getting an orgasm from simply inhaling it is higher than spending a few minutes with you,” she said as she stomped down the hall and towards the kitchen.
Following her, he sai d, “Sweetcakes, don’t be like that.”
She shuddered. “Don’t call me that. That’s Oliver’s jargon when he hits on a girl.”
“Sweetheart?”
“Tyson’s.”
“Sunshine?”
“You had your chance.”

“Hello?”
Rachel hesitated for a second, then quickly hung up. Yet, she hit the redial button almost instantly.
“Hello?” the person answered, this time with more irritation in his voice.
Confused, she asked, “Can I speak to Oliver please?”
“He’s not home.”
“Who… who are you?”
“My name is Mat. Can I leave him a message?”
Momentarily puzzled, she racked her brain to put one and one together. This guy definitely had a little Kiwi accent in his voice. But who the hell was Mat?
His question hauled her back to their conversation. “Are you okay?”
“Of course I am. Please let him know I called,” she snapped, still out of sorts, and hung up, never giving him a chance to reply.
Breathing in and out, she tried to calm herself down. Adrenaline shot through her, leaving her shaking all over. She took another deep breath before she walked to the kitchen to rinse her clammy hands and make a cup of tea. The sound of the phone made her jump, and she rushed back to grab it, nearly knocking over the goldfish tank, cursing the police all the way as well as Frank, the bastard who'd left her in hospital bruised and beaten up last year.
"Oliver?”
"It's Mat. How about you tell me your name so I can ask Oliver to return your call?”
''How did you get my number?”
"Reverse call,” he replied nonchalantly.
A smile twitched at Rachel's lips. He was clever. And he cared. "It's Rachel. My name is Rachel.”
"Nice meeting you Rachel, even though it's over the phone. So, you're sure you're okay?”
Rachel hesitated, but noticed how talking to him calmed her. "Who are you?”
''My name's Mat, but I've already told you.”
There was no malice in his voice. She sat down on the couch, her body slowly relaxing. “Oliver's never mentioned someone called Mat.”
He laughed. “You know all his secrets? “
"No, but I believe, he’d mentioned a friend staying with him.”
"Let me think, I can't recall him mentioning your name, either." His voice had a teasing tone and Rachel started to like him. It was exactly what she needed after the opening the door to the police. “After Tamara I'm the next most important woman in his life,” she said trying hard to match his humour.
"Damn the bugger. He’s always been greedy when it came to the other sex. Tell me, Rachel, why were you so upset?”
"You tell me first how Oliver knows someone from New Zealand?’
He laughed again and it was one of those laughs that was contagious, but also one that told everyone this person loved to laugh. "You picked up on that, eh?”
"Educated guess.”
"Oliver and I went to school together in the U.S.A. and have stayed in contact since.”

Here's another little snippet.

THANK YOU

Hollie couldn’t take her eyes off his brown hair, his green eyes, and his well-tanned face. This guy had an obvious ability to keep the conversation flowing, and she found herself unable to resist his soft‐spoken voice. Before long, her tension eased a bit. She told him about her job and how she knew Davo. He did likewise and told her about his move from Hobart. She decided to like him,
yet she wanted to go back to the comfort zone of her friends, mainly Alex.
“Listen, Jeremy. It was nice meeting you, but I’ve truly got to go. There are still a few things I need to get sorted, and I don’t want to be too late tonight,” Hollie said, pointing to her watch as a sign
to Alex she wanted to leave.
He reached out and caught her hand in his. “How about I give you a lift?”
Looking at him, she couldn’t resist and smiled. “You are a persistent fella, aren’t you?”
Jeremy smiled suggestively, and, yes, there was that tingle in her lower body again.

Adam needs help, and Kitty’s father has connections. As the end of her month approaches, Kitty’s deal with the devil is far more complicated than simply submitting to her father’s will.

Even if it means living the rest of her life without him?

excerpt

A bartender sauntered her way over to me almost as soon as I sat down. She was something to look at; that was for sure. Her hair was colored a light blond, almost white, on the top, and black underneath, and her teased-up ponytail displayed that and her neck tattoos perfectly. Her tight black tank top left nothing to the imagination. I figured putting her double Ds out there for everyone to see probably earned her better tips. If I were being honest, my almost B-cups might have been a little jealous that she had that much to display.

“Whatcha drinking?” she asked when she made her way to me.

“Grey Goose and tonic,” I told her and laid a hundred-dollar bill on the bar. “Keep them coming.”

She looked unruffled by my request and went about making my drink with practiced efficiency. Grey Goose and tonic was my mother’s drink of choice. I knew it had fewer calories than most cocktails, which was the only reason she allowed herself to drink her meals.

The bartender set down my drink and moved on to the next thirsty patron. I hadn’t so much as taken a sip of my drink before I felt a hand on the back of my stool where my coat lay. “You here alone, sweetheart?” a man asked. I could smell the whiskey on his breath and cheap cologne on his shirt.

“Not interested,” I said without turning around.

“Aw, come on. Let me buy you a drink.”

“No, thank you. I have one, and I’m more than capable of buying my own drinks.”

He scoffed at my reply. “No need to be a bitch. No wonder you’re here alone.” I felt his hand move from my chair, and the stench of whiskey and too much spritzing disappeared.

My first drink was quickly emptied and replaced with another, and then another by the booby bartender. She was doing exactly as I asked, so I thanked her politely then turned to take in more of the scene. The crowd was a mix of scantily dressed women and grungy men trying to get laid, to business types in their weekend casual taking advantage of the freedom. It was interesting to say the least.

I was busy watching a short, Italian-looking guy try to pick up what could have been a supermodel when something at the back of the bar caught my eye. I turned fully in my stool to take in the back wall of the bar. It was a mural depicting a band and people dancing. The detail and depth reminded me of Maverick and his coffee shop scene. Suddenly, the music was no longer loud enough to drown out my thoughts.

It occurred to me in my alcohol-infused brain that I no longer had to worry about what my father thought. I could take Maverick up on his offer of lunch now. Hell, I could screw Maverick right here on this bar if I was so inclined, and my father would have no say, because he was writing me off anyway. It was becoming easier by the minute to see the pros of telling my dad to shove it. Maybe it was the alcohol talking, but becoming homeless, car less, and fashion less didn’t seem so bad if it meant I could have a little fun with Maverick.

“I guess you found another one,” a familiar deep voice shouted. I turned to find Maverick himself standing on the opposite side of the bar from me as if my dirty thoughts had conjured him up.

“Another what?”

He nodded toward the painting on the back wall.

“Ah. I was wondering.”

He smirked his terribly sexy smirk that made me want to do things to him that were not suitable for public. “Were you now?”

“Yes. The details are similar. The way you make it look like an extension of the room, the timelessness of the people. It’s your style.”

He leaned his elbows on the bar and moved closer to me. My body instinctively matched his position and leaned in as he said, “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you paid close attention to my mural at the coffee shop.”

“Perhaps,” I responded with a smile.

His smirk disappeared and seriousness replaced the flirtation. “What are you doing here, Duchess? This isn’t your scene.”

I didn’t like where this was going, but Boobs saved me with liquid courage. I picked up my new drink and lifted it in a toast. “Drinking to freedom. What are you doing here? You work here or something?” It was really a dumb question, considering he was behind the bar, but I wasn’t exactly on my A-game right then.

“Or something,” he replied. “How much have you had to drink tonight, Duchess?”

I ignored his faux concern and opted for flirting instead. “I thought we already established my name is Katherine, not Duchess.”

“Okay. Katherine, how much have you had to drink?”

I rolled my eyes. “Not enough. That’s for damn sure.”

“I’m not sure I agree with you,” he said as he took my empty glass and dumped the ice into that secret place behind the bar where bartenders dump the sad leftovers of people’s drowned sorrows and liquid courage. Boobs McGhee brought my next drink to me, but Maverick, the thief, took it from her before she could set it down.

“Hey! That’s mine,” I whined. Boobalicious looked just as surprised, but with one shake of Maverick’s head, she shrugged and moved on to other empty glasses. “I paid good money for that drink you just poured out, Maverick.”

“You’ve had enough, Katherine,” he said sternly. He sounded like my father, and I’d had enough of being told what to do. I had just gotten rid of one controlling man from my life; I didn’t need a replacement.

Praise

“Kitty really came into her own as the story unfolded and I was so happy to finally see her take the bull by the horns and make the supreme sacrifice to protect the man she loves.”

- Kristen Luciani, Author of Unlikely Venture

“I would highly recommend this book. It smashes a lot of the stereotypes we see in life and is ultimately a very brave and inspirational book. Though there were a lot of tough times in the story, it was the message from the whole book that was fab. Such a great read, I finished it in one sitting.”

Excerpt:
The school year should end right after spring break, because all anyone can focus on is summer vacation. You can't learn anything new, because all you can think about is all the fun stuff you're going to do once you don't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn. Summer always seems full of possibilities.
Nothing exciting ever happens during the school year, but maybe, during summer vacation, you could run into a hot celebrity and he'd decide to put you in his next music video. Okay, it wasn't like I knew anybody that happened to, but my grandparents did live next door to a former TV star, Simone Hendrickson, and Simone was discovered in an ice cream parlor one summer. Of course, she lived in L.A. at the time and was already doing plays and commercials, so the guy who discovered her had already seen her perform. But hey, it was summer, she got discovered, and that was all that mattered.
Amazing stuff didn't happen to me. You know what happened to me last summer? I stepped on a bee and had to go to the emergency room. They're not going to make an E! True Hollywood Story out of my life. I didn't go on exotic vacations—like today, I was being dragged along with my parents to my cousin's graduation party. Most people waited until at least the end of May before having a grad party, but Charisma was having hers early because she was leaving on a trip to Spain. I was dreading this party because I didn't want to listen to everybody talk about how smart and talented Charisma was—making me feel like a blob in comparison—but my mom RSVP'd even though I said I'd rather die than go. My death threats meant nothing. But still, for some strange reason, I had a feeling this summer was going to be different.

Praise for Next Door to a Star:
From Readers' Favorite:
Next Door to a Star by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a heart wrenching tale of a young girl growing into her teen years….Hager's main character is representative of every teenage girl. The author really nailed the reality of a young girl's early high school years. I think this is a valuable read for girls ages 12-18.

From Kelly Smith Reviews:
Hager wrote from a teen's perspective, and it gave the book a very authentic feel. She has a real gift for that, something many YA writers lack these days. She reminds me a lot of a modern Ann M. Martin or Judy Blume.

From Author Erin Fanning:
If you, like me, have a soft spot for young adult novels then author Krysten Lindsay Hager should have a place on your bookshelf. Ms. Hager brings the teen years to life with absolute perfection in Next Door to a Star. Handling multiple plotlines with an expert touch, she's crafted a young adult dramedy that on the top layer is a story about Hadley Daniels, an average teen whose only ambition is to fit in, have a few friends, and find her place in the world.

Today's hook

His hands slid up her arms to cup her face. Closing her eyes, she enjoyed the touch of his lips.
“You sure this is what you want?” he asked.
Unable to speak, she nodded. It was everything she wanted tonight. Tomorrow would be another day, and she’d deal with it then. This was today and today she wanted to feel. Wanted to touch him. And wanted to be loved. She knew Markus wouldn’t hurt her.
“Yes, I’m sure,” she answered.
“I’ll ruin you for all other men to come,” he said against her skin. “You sure you wanna make that sacrifice?”
He was teasing her. Sarah looked up and saw his eyes lit with mischief. “Just get on with it,” she replied.
Markus nipped her ear. “What if your mother finds out? She’ll send me to hell and back.”
Placing her hand on his hard chest, she pushed him away. “No wonder you haven’t been with a girl for a long time. Your foreplay sucks, Marky.”
A bark of laughter filled the room.
