Emma wondered about that remark and then remembered what the girl had said about her mother. She watched as Mrs. Gibbs rushed her husband and Nadine into the lift, and the door slid shut.
A familiar voice startled her. “Emma! Come on, stop dreaming.”
Emma turned around and saw her colleague, Jack, standing next to her. She smiled.
“Jack! Where’ve you been?”
He lifted one side of his mouth. “Morning tea.”
“Are you for real? You’ve been gone for an hour.”
Grinning, he ruffled her hair, leaving her pony tail in a mess. “Another bad hair day?”
She gently pushed him away and rolled her eyes. “You’re avoiding the subject!”
With raised eyebrows he asked, “Which subject?”
She poked her tongue out at him. Why should I care if he gets into trouble!
“Miss Gallagher!” The familiar authoritative voice came from behind them.
Emma winced and with heat creeping up her cheeks she slowly turned, only to see her boss standing behind her.

Blog Tour: Natalina Reis "We Will Always Have the Closet"

Petra Galatas sees the world through rose-colored glasses…

Petra has always chosen to see the best in people. Even her ex-husband’s extramarital affairs couldn’t destroy her faith in humanity. However, as much as she craves love, she’s not ready to trust another man with her heart.

The last place Petra thought she’d meet a guy was a closet in her ex-husband’s house…

While investigating Jonas Linden for millions of dollars in art fraud, Sam Corra’s clues lead him into the most unlikely of places—Jonas’ closet. Even less likely was meeting a woman there…a beautiful woman with honey skin and big brown eyes. Though neither of them divulge the reason they’re there, there’s an instant mutual attraction. And when Sam pursues her, he discovers the beautiful woman is none other than Jonas Linden’s ex-wife.

He’s on a mission to prove Jonas’ guilt. She’s determined to prove his innocence…

Unwilling to believe she had been stupid enough to marry a criminal, Petra attempts an investigation of her own, and unwittingly puts herself—and Sam—in danger. First comes an “accident” that lands Petra in the hospital. Second is a kidnapping that puts Sam’s life in grave danger.

When they both become pawns in a deadly game, money, art, and love are all at stake.

“Hmph.” She felt herself bump into someone. Her first instinct was to run out, but her common sense dictated she stay put. If she left the closet, Jonas would catch her red-handed, and she was not going to give him the satisfaction. It was pitch dark in the oddly small closet and she couldn’t see who was behind her, but she could feel his hard body crushed against hers, his muscle tight against her softness.
Unsettled, she wiggled in vain, trying to put some space between them. The empty hangers swung by her head and she reached up to stop the ensuing rattle. Who made such a tiny closet?
Strong hands spun her around until she was facing the stranger.
“Don’t say anything,” the male voice whispered in her ear. His warm breath on the side of her face sent an irrational shiver of pleasure through her. Her forever curious hands, caught between their bodies, moved of their own accord to explore the stranger’s sculptural hard muscles in unabashed awe.

“Get a grip, you idiot,” she chided herself in a soft, but audible voice.
Natalina wrote her first romance in collaboration with her best friend at the age of 13. Since then she has ventured into other genres, but romance is first and foremost in almost everything she writes.

After earning a degree in tourism and foreign languages, she worked as a tourist guide in her native Portugal for a short time before moving to the United States. She lived in three continents and a few islands, and her knack for languages and linguistics led her to a master’s degree in education. She lives in Virginia where she has taught English as a Second Language to elementary school children for more years than she cares to admit.
Natalina doesn’t believe you can have too many books or too much coffee. Art and dance make her happy and she is pretty sure she could survive on lobster and bananas alone. When she is not writing or stressing over lesson plans, she shares her life with her husband and two sons.

Lauren Carrington is an aspiring author who supposedly has it all.

The life. The house. The seemingly perfect marriage to Michael.

With her husband’s blessing, she uproots herself to attend a creative writing course halfway across the country in the hopes of breaking through the writer's block she's been battling, unaware she is about to inadvertently put everything she treasures in grave jeopardy.

For her first in-class assignment, she gets partnered up with the alluring and charismatic Dean Bergeron…

Their undeniable connection, mutual passion, and literary talents, paired with Lauren’s newfound boldness and prowess, soon form the foundation for a catastrophic upheaval of the only life Lauren has ever known.

But is it actually Lauren's life being thrown into turmoil? The lines become blurred when she introduces herself as Sarah, the main character from the book she's been struggling to write, and boundaries are quickly crossed as Lauren explores her new persona more intimately.

When her two worlds collide, will she be able to distinguish…
Which life is real and which is fiction?

M. Lynne Cunning

M. Lynne Cunning has always wanted to be an author, but it wasn't until she discovered National Novel Writing Month and all the insanity that goes along with it that she began to truly realize her love for writing stories. While she doesn't limit herself to writing only specific genres, her first published novel is a Contemporary/Romantic Suspense. She also doesn't believe that the traditional typical "happily ever after" is always the way to go. You've been forewarned.

She is almost always reading or writing, but also enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband/best friend, Dennis, and is the proud dog-mom of a brindle boxer. She's also a too-far-gone coffee addict and a lifelong country music fan.

Reviews for Innocent Tears by Iris Blobel #Reading #MFRWAuthor @Cleanreads_

Advice is what we ask for when we already
know the answer, but wish we didn't.”

I am a big fan of Miss Blobel's work. I love her characters and get so into their lives and how that comes together and culminates in the end. I loved Flynn and his apprehension about having to be a new Dad to a child he had never met. Emma's involvement and her torment of having to chose the right man. Jack's dormant abusive behavior and Teresa indifference to Nadine, who by the way was a very endearing child. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and Kudos to its author!!
I loved the storyline of this book and really felt for the characters. Couldn't put it down which doesn't happen very often.
"Innocent Tears" by Iris Blobel was a wonderful well written novel that once you start reading it will be hard to put down. Definitely the 'six year old girl' Nadine stole this novel for me in her first appearance in the read. "When six year old Nadine peers over the reception counter of a big city hotel and tells the receptionist,My mum's dead, the reader's attention is immediately gained." Nadine's grandparents had been taking care of her but now wanted to give her to her biological father, Flynn who was a business lawyer in Melbourne and didn't know of his daughters' existence. Be ready for a lots of drama to come from all of this situation. The characters Emma, Flynn, Nadine, the grandparents and Jack are all well developed and colorful , and really comes to life giving you a well written storyline. This author really keeps the reader guessing about the romance between Flynn and Emma and you will see how this love story is between a man and his daughter will finally blossom all in this good read. Would I recommend this read? YES!

♥♦♥ SYNOPSIS ♥♦♥

Becoming a parent can be daunting at the best of times, but for Flynn, a business lawyer in Melbourne, it almost pulls the feet from right underneath him. He’s become a father to six-year-old Nadine literally overnight! He had no idea about her existence, and the news throws him into chaos, even more so when he is asked to take over custody.

With the help of Emma, an employee at the hotel where Nadine and her grandparents are staying, and his parents, Flynn tries to do the right thing. Yet, the right thing in his eyes differs from his parents’, and Emma is voicing her opinion as well. And right in the middle is little Nadine, still grieving the loss of her mother and finding a wonderful friend in Emma. There’s no doubt she’s afraid where and with whom she will settle.

But in the end, it’s a letter Flynn receives that helps him figuring out what to do.

Happy "Book Hook" Day
May I 'hook' you on
"Let Me Love You"?

"Let Me Love You" is set in Melbourne, in the wonderful country of Australia.

I hope you get hooked by this Snippet

Today's hook
He slowly stripped out of his track pants before grabbing a can of Coke out of his bag. Leaning against the wall, he chugged half of the drink while enjoying the quietness around him. Everyone else was still out on the field trying to please Coach Becker. He choked a laugh, hoping his mates would put Erik in a better mood than he had. They had a few important games over the next few weeks before the season ended, and for the first time in years, the club was doing well. As he walked to the showers, he thought about his training session and wondered whether his shoulder was to blame for the bad hits, or his lack of training. But who was he kidding, he always liked to throw everything he had at people, yet was hopeless in receiving anything thrown at him. That applied in baseball and in life. When he’d been to see his first baseball game as a kid in Los Angeles, he’d known he was born to pitch. He ran the water to heat it up before stepping under the spray and lifting his face to the mist. Closing his eyes, he succumbed to the seduction the water brought as it ran over his head and muscles. He was tired. After a moment of letting the water flow over his body, Oliver opened his eyes, and fixed his gaze on the tile wall before him. Coach Becker’s niece, Tamara, popped into his mind, and he thought of how she’d ignored his hand. He wasn’t sure whether she’d snubbed him or there was more to that look of fear in her eyes. Reluctantly, he turned off the water and grabbed his towel.

Blurb:
Oliver Dempsey, pitcher for a Melbourne baseball club, loves the women, and they love him…
But he keeps them at an arm’s length, and when he meets Tamara, he’s unprepared for the attraction he feels for her. Told by his coach that she’s off limits, only draws him in more.
Tamara Amis moved to Melbourne to find some distance between her past and herself…
With the help of her uncle, the coach of a Melbourne baseball club, she quickly finds a job, and a place to live. Yet, one meeting with the handsome pitcher stirs unexpected emotions that threaten to overwhelm her.
It’s Oliver’s injury that brings them together, but as they find out about each other’s pasts, how can they be ready to share a future?

5 Stars
This is the first book I read by author. I really enjoyed this book. I will have to read book 1 in this series. You can read this as a standalone

4 Stars
Having enjoyed the first book in this series, I was more than happy to read Let Me Love You – but each book stands alone and you don't have to have read one to understand the other. Nor do you have to know baseball inside-out to follow the story!

Oliver and Tamara appear to be opposites in the way they live life – he outgoing, she nervy and insular after a recent tragedy. And yet both choose to keep people at arm's length and neither are looking for romantic involvement. The attraction they feel for each other is initially unwanted but ultimately can't be ignored.

When Oliver is injured, he must reevaluate his career and his attitude to relationships, just as Tamara must decide the best way to forge forward rebuilding her life.

This is an enjoyable romance exploring the way two people cope with loss and tragedy in different ways, with likeable secondary characters adding variety and humor.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tuesday Tales - WOOD ~ Where #Authors #Write to a #Prompt ~ #Reading

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY

Welcome to Tuesday ... Welcome to Tuesday Tales ...

I continue with  Rachel's story. I introduced her in "I think I love you", the third book in the "Australian Sports Stars Series". She's Sarah's sister.
When Rachel opens the door and finds the police standing in front of her door, she's scared of a repeat of the day she was dragged to the police station. Yet, the two officers only want information and ask her to stop by later that day. Worried, she calls Oliver, a good friend, but instead gets Matiu Afoa on the phone. Matiu is Oliver's Kiwi friend staying with him for a week. He's in Melbourne for a meeting.

Today's prompt is a picture.

Enjoy - and feel free to leave a comment. And don't forget to click the link below to go back to the main Tuesday Tale site for more stories by very talented authors.

He loved the laughter in her voice. And even though there was still the reason why she’d been so upset earlier in the day, he was glad he was able to put a little smile in her voice.
“Are you comfortable enough to give me your address or would you like to meet at the pizza place down the street.”
“The pizzeria sounds like a good idea. I could be there in about an hour.”
“Deal. I look forward to meeting you.”
She laughed. “This is about the weirdest thing ever. Don’t bring a rose, though. You’ll recognise me when you see a very nervous person coming in.”
“No rose and nervous person. Got it.”
Mat hung up and made a little fist pump in the air. It wasn’t his first date so it surprised him how nervous he was. In fact, it wasn’t really a date, but a meeting to find out more about Rachel and to put his mind at ease. After all, she had sounded distressed in the morning.
He had a quick shower, towelled himself off before getting dressed in his jeans, grey shirt, and his black shoes. Then he called Oliver again, but again was instructed to leave a message. “Mate, I’m out for dinner. Will catch up with you later. Hei konei ra.”
One last check at the time and he decided it was late enough to leave. The pizzeria was indeed only down the road so he walked the small distance. As soon as he stepped into the restaurant, the smell of freshly baked pizza, garlic, and fire assaulted him. Mat looked around, liking the typical ambiance of an Italian eatery; the wooden tables were covered with white checked table cloths, white plates decorated with a green napkin, and some crunchy bread sticks in a clear glass vase in the centre.
There was an empty table in the far corner, which seemed to still have a good view towards the entrance. After a brief eye contact with the waiter, he made his way to the table, still surprised at the events that led him here.
And it wasn’t more than five minutes when a woman entered the door. Mat knew straight away it was Rachel and smiled when she looked towards him.
Her lips curved into a smile as well, and his whole body was suddenly on alert.

Emma sighed inwardly. In her early twenties and she still lacked confidence in what other people thought of her. Tucking an escaping strand of her tawny hair behind her ear, she tried to keep a positive attitude because, after all, she loved working at the All Stars Hotel in Melbourne. It was something she always wanted to do—to greet people to this beautiful city, and make their stay as comfortable as possible. And she was often told how popular she was with staff and guests alike for her positive attitude, her generous heart, and kind spirit.
“Ma’am, that’d be room five-o-two. If you go to the right over there, take the lift to the fifth floor and follow the hall to the near end, you will find room five-o-two on your right.”
Teresa Gibbs took the card from Emma and turned it in her hands.
“Ma’am, you slide that into the door instead of a key. I’m happy to ask someone to come with you and show–”
“I’ll be fine. Thank you.” And Mrs. Gibbs turned to go.
Emma leaned across the counter and smiled at Nadine. “Enjoy your holidays,” she said and winked. “And come see me sometime to tell me about the tooth fairy.”
“We’re not on a holiday,” the girl said in almost a whisper. “We’re here to meet my dad.”
