Introducing the Crime Files

The Crime Files features tough rape survivor Nancy Kerr and her smoking hot ex-Special Forces boyfriend Tommy McIntyre. Together they investigate cases that nobody will touch – often for no payment – putting themselves in danger.

Jenny Thomson came up with the idea for the Crime Files because she was angry reading about women who were the victims of awful crimes who never get justice. The intrepid duo of Nancy and Tommy try and make sure that doesn't happen.

Synopsis – Hell To Pay (Crime Files Book 1)

Nancy Kerr refuses to be a victim—even when she walks in on her parents' killers and is raped and left for dead…

Fourteen months later, Nancy wakes up in a psychiatric hospital with no knowledge of how she got there.

Slowly, her memory starts to return.

Released from the institution, she has just one thing on her mind—two men brought hell to her family home.

Now they're in for some hell of their own…

Synopsis – Throwaways (Crime Files Book 2)

Huddled in a doorway, in a blonde wig, and my best Pretty Woman outfit, I'm already soaked to the skin. As downward spirals go, this was bad.
But I wasn't here because I was reduced to turning tricks for a living. I was here to catch a killer…

Throwaways. That's the word they're using for the four Glasgow sex workers who've gone missing. But two people do care.

When Suzy Henderson is found dead in a landfill site, her eyes pecked out by crows, they find the finger of another missing woman wedged in her throat.

Nancy Kerr and Tommy McIntyre are on the case and they won't stop until they find the missing women. But, how can they trust anyone when they can't even trust each other?

Synopsis – Don't Come for Me (Crime Files Book 3)

My name is Nancy Kerr and I'm not a murderer. Since my parents were murdered I've come close a few times, but I've never done the deed.

I did tattoo the world RAPIST across the stomach of one of my parents' killers. But to me that was justified, righteous revenge because when I walked in on those monsters who killed my parents, they raped me and left me bleeding to death on the kitchen floor of my childhood home. What happened caused me to have a breakdown and I ended up in a psychiatric hospital where I was in the land of the zombies for fourteen months. I have no memory of most of what happened there.

But, hey, that's another story.

Accused of my boyfriend Tommy's murder, I need to prove my innocence. It won't be easy. Confronted by the same scene as the police, I would think I was guilty too. And, Tommy's still missing, presumed dead; murdered by me.
The clock's ticking…

 Happy "Book Hook" Day
May I 'hook' you on "I think I love you"
my latest release in the Australian Sport Stars series?

"I think I love you" is set in Melbourne, in the wonderful country of Australia.

I hope you get hooked by this Snippet

Blurb:
Markus DeLeon and Sarah Winter’s lives couldn’t be more different… After three years away as the goalkeeper for an English soccer club, Markus has been happy to be back in Australia. He’d missed his family and friends, including Sarah. He’s known her since childhood, and often protected her from the teasing of other children and the troubling consequences of a broken home.

When they attend their friends’ wedding, a new light is cast on their friendship… Sarah is fresh out of a bad relationship, and Markus has always been the one she can confide in. Maybe it’s the magic of the wedding—or how stunning he looks in a tux—but the attraction between them intensifies in ways they’d never imagined.

But sometimes when risking what you have, you might lose everything… Following a passionate encounter, Markus isn’t sure how to handle this new aspect of his relationship with Sarah, and literally flees the scene for the coast. Sarah is unsure how to react to his sudden departure, but is soon knocked off course by misunderstandings and a frightening family emergency.

Markus realises his mistake and wants to make things right, but he also faces obstacles. He’s been offered an exciting new job, and an attractive newcomer to the neighbourhood is eager to claim his attention, though the last thing Markus needs is another confusing relationship.
Can Sarah and Markus face the fear and doubt—and the potential loss of their lifelong friendship—to give their love a chance?

Today's hook
Grabbing his phone, Markus flicked through a few names and dialled Oliver’s number.

“Where are you?”

“Give me five minutes.”

“The groom’s nervous.”

Oliver let out a bark of laughter. “It’s his wedding day. Yeah, I’d be nervous too. Do you have the rings? Katie will kill you, if you haven’t.”

Although sure he had the rings, panic rose within Markus as he quickly checked his pockets to retrieve the small box.

“Yes, all good.”

“Okay,” Oliver said. “See you in five.”

Markus hung up and smiled at Tyson, who was pacing up and down the small room.

“Where the hell is he?”

“Wouldn’t say.”

“What do you mean he wouldn’t say?” Tyson stared at Markus. “You’ve got the rings, right?”

Markus nodded.

Markus had known Tyson and Oliver for most of his life, since before school. They’d played footy every Saturday and later on during their teenage years hung out together afterwards as well. Yet, after watching a game of soccer, Markus changed sports, and a year later, after spending a few months in the U.S., Oliver had switched to baseball. The youngest of the trio had stayed with football and was one of the most regarded players in the Australian Football League.

FRESH BEGINNINGS
We continue with Fresh Beginnings, Jared's story as he travels through five states

"G'day!" He stared at her and for some reason something tugged at his heart. Not that he wanted that. He had no room for women, let alone American ones. They all were on earth to make life complicated. Mark was constantly running around for Sophie or Hope, even though Mark's wife was one in a million and little Hope was simply adorable, especially when she was asleep.

"Ya know it's dangerous to hitch a ride," he finally said when she was still quiet.

She stared at him for a moment, but then replied with the typical American twang in her voice. "I know you said something, but I have no idea what."

He chuckled. "It is dangerous to hitchhike," he repeated with exaggerated pronunciation.

The woman stepped a bit closer to the window. "Are you from Austria?"

He laughed aloud.

"Australia, I meant," she added, seemingly embarrassed by the mistake.

Excerpt from Chapter One:
"Excuse me. You've picked up the wrong bag."
Deep and decisive, the voice startled Laura from behind as she loaded her luggage onto her hard-won airport trolley.
"No, I don't think so." She swung round to confront the voice's owner. Unnerved to find him towering over her, she took a step back, stumbling over her trolley in the process.
With lightning speed, he reached out to catch her arm, his grip strong as he helped her regain her balance. When she was upright again, she took in piercing blue eyes, thick dark brown hair, a hint of stubble on a tanned face—and felt an immediate jolt of attraction.
Laura ignored it. "I can manage, thank you," she snapped, thinking she wouldn't have tripped if he hadn't surprised her like that.
He released his hold and raised an eyebrow. "As I said, you have my bag."
Pushing away long strands of chestnut-brown hair that had dared escape their ponytail, Laura returned his gaze.
"No, this is definitely mine." She was hot, harassed, and late. The last thing she needed was a futile argument over her own luggage!
"Would you mind if I check?"
"Help yourself." Unable to disguise her impatience, Laura waved at it, adding, "But I am in a hurry." She winced at the hostile tone in her voice, but she really didn't have time for this. Tapping her foot in irritation, she waited to be proved right as he crouched over her trolley.
"Would you care to look?" he asked.
Laura's foot stopped tapping. Recognising undisguised triumph on his face, she read the label over his shoulder with trepidation, but there it was in black and white—Daniel Stone, London Gatwick to Porto. The heat that rose in her cheeks seemed to burn right through her skin.
"But it's the same as mine!" she blustered, watching with embarrassment as he hoisted the heavy bag from the trolley with ease.
"It's hardly a unique design," he commented, shrugging broad shoulders. "If you weren't in such a tearing hurry, you might have spotted your own on the carousel."
Laura spun around to see her bag riding forlornly around with the few that were left. Mortified, she opened her mouth to apologise.
But he spoke first. "Personally, I would advocate that old saying 'More haste, less speed.'" His tone softened a little as he added, "I'm sorry, but you're not the only hot, tired person whose flight was delayed, you know." And off he strolled through the terminal, his bag flung over his shoulder, without a backward glance.

Today's hook
Markus DeLeon stood in front of Tyson and stared at him. The guy looked good in a tuxedo. A smile tugged at his lips, though, when he saw Ty’s hair.

Markus cocked a questioning brow. “The hair?”

Tyson instantly raked his hand through it to mess it up a bit. “Grandma Hazel,” he said through gritted teeth.

Markus laughed. “Did I just see an eye twitch?”

“Oh man, give me a break here, okay.” Tyson looked away. “And where the hell is Oliver?”

Markus tried his best not to laugh, but failed miserably. He’d known his friend for over twenty years, and Ty’s eye twitch was enough proof for him that his friend was beyond nervous. He couldn’t remember seeing Ty so tense in…well, ever. Not even before any of his important football games.

Then again, it wasn’t every day that one got married to a gorgeous girl. And despite Katie’s best efforts to keep it a low key event, the media was present already outside the church.

But the RV drove right past her as well. With a heavy sigh she turned and grabbed the water bottle out of her bag, when, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the RV was pulling over in the distance. She tried to remind herself of the rules. The driver was not allowed to be creepy. Shouldn't be old. In theory shouldn't be a man… she sighed again. Yes, right. What would be her chances to get anywhere with that list?

She looked again and nothing was happening. Carefully, she walked towards the RV and noticed the passenger side window moving down.

On the tip of her toes, she looked in. "Hi there," she said hesitantly and, with all the strength she had, reminded herself that her feet were aching and the water was getting low as well.

"G'day!" A nice, booming voice came from over the other side.

She couldn't help but smile.

Excerpt:

Alex gazed at his old friend in admiration. If anyone had ever told him he would be standing in Burlington House surrounded by Elgin's Marbles debating with Miss Rosamund Smythe about who might be conspiring to entrap him into marriage, he would never have believed such a claim. But here they were. And she looked mighty fetching as she gazed up at him expectantly. He had to make an effort to remember what she had said. Oh yes, something about ideas to investigate. He wondered absently what she could possibly know about investigations and clues and all that. But she was right. They needed to have a direction. The only trouble was he was drawing a blank about any possible ideas.
All he could do was shrug helplessly. "I am so sorry, Rose, but I have absolutely no idea where to start. To the best of my knowledge I have never had any dealings with Broderick. I developed an instant dislike of the man upon first making his acquaintance, but I cannot even tell you why, as we have barely conversed."
The duke was clearly flabbergasted over this development and was even slightly ashamed to not have a ready solution. Rose must have realized this. She hastened to reassure him. "Never mind about that. We both agreed earlier that the best place for us to start is with Lady Anne. That will have to be my job, as you will just be walking straight into their plot if you try to do anything about it. Now, I really must be going, so we must hurry and establish another appointment to meet up to discuss any of our findings. In the meantime, you should speak to your solicitors or man of affairs or whatever you might have along those lines and see if they are aware of any issues Broderick might have with you. Those gentlemen might know more on the subject than you."
"How did you get so smart about such things?"
Alex was intrigued by the blush that spread over her face at this unanswerable question. The only thing she could offer was "My father is a diplomat," with as much dignity as possible.
Alex allowed the moment to pass and was rewarded by the look of relief on her face. He hurried to make an appointment as they saw her maid approaching. "Would it be remarked upon if you come here again tomorrow or the next day?"
"Probably not," Rose answered. "My mother never rises before noon and is really only concerned with how I spend my evenings. But you had best give me at least one day to try to make the acquaintance of Lady Anne, so let us say the day after tomorrow. That gives me a day and a half to gather as much information as possible. I shall start with my friend Lady Elizabeth. She is a font of knowledge about the ton, as well as being friendly with Lady Anne." While she was speaking she fumbled with her drawing supplies, finally tucking them under her arm. "Wish me luck," she concluded as she once more faced the duke.
The duke watched a myriad of emotions chase themselves across his companion's face. He was unable to identify most of them, but he thought she looked rather wistful as she offered him a brief curtsy before she hurried away without another word.
Alex stood in the same spot for several moments, watching her retreating figure, wondering if she would look back before exiting the building. He was unprepared for the profound disappointment that swept over him as she strode away with purpose, never once glancing back in his direction. Slowly bringing his focus back to the statue she had been sketching, the duke allowed the entire interlude to play itself out in his mind. Giving his head a shake to rid himself of the melancholy that had befallen him, he followed in her footsteps and strode from the hall.
