Tuesday Tales - Picture Prompt - Where #Authors #Write to a #prompt ~ #romance #love

Welcome to Tuesday ... Welcome to Tuesday Tales ...

I continue with  Rachel's story. I introduced her in "I think I love you", the third book in the "Australian Sports Stars Series". She's Sarah's sister.
When Rachel opens the door and finds the police standing in front of her door, she's scared of a repeat of the day she was dragged to the police station. Yet, the two officers only want information and ask her to stop by later that day. Worried, she calls Oliver, a good friend, but instead gets Matiu Afoa on the phone. Matiu is Oliver's Kiwi friend staying with him for a week. He's in Melbourne for a meeting.

Today's prompt is a picture prompt.

I moved a little forward to be able to fit the "barn" into the 300 words. This is Rachel's POV, Oliver has arrived and they're on their way to the police station.

Once they were buckled up and on the road, Oliver asked, “Have you had any contact with him since?”
“No way. Can’t wait to hear details about his name.” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and sat straight. “Okay, distract me a bit and tell me about Mat.”
He shook his head. “Sounds like love at first sight. Or hear I suppose.”
“Oh my god no, but I’m curious about the guy who answers your phone. We all know how much you treasure your car and phone.”
He chuckled. “Mat lived across the road from us in America,” he explained with a shrug. “His dad had been a famous rugby player in New Zealand. The family moved to the U.S. where his dad did some coaching. But it was a similar situation to ours. None of them really settled. Mat and I stayed in contact since,  I’m hoping to invest in his new business venture. That’s why he’s here.”
“What kind of business?”
Oliver parked and turned to look at her. “How about a barbeque at our place tomorrow night. I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to tell you all about his business and his little barn in the middle of nowhere.”
“Barn?”
He laughed. “He bought the thing a few years back and turned it into one mighty great house. Shame he’s moving back to Queenstown.”
They got out of the car and walked towards the police station entrance. Taking her hand, Oliver said, “You’ll be right. I’m sure there’s a simple explanation to it.”
“With Frank being dead and the police ending up at my doorstep, I doubt the explanation is simple.”

  2. I agree. Police at your doorstep somehow never turn out to be simple. Love the easy conversation between these two.

  4. Great interaction between them. I can see why she's worried about what is to come.

  5. Hmmm...I have a feeling the curiosity will get more intense once she meets Mat in person.
