Tuesday Tales - PRETTY - Where #Authors #Write to a #prompt ~ #romance #love

Welcome to Tuesday ... Welcome to Tuesday Tales ...

I continue with  Rachel's story. I introduced her in "I think I love you", the third book in the "Australian Sports Stars Series". She's Sarah's sister.
When Rachel opens the door and finds the police standing in front of her door, she's scared of a repeat of the day she was dragged to the police station. Yet, the two officers only want information and ask her to stop by later that day. Worried, she calls Oliver, a good friend, but instead gets Matiu Afoa on the phone. Matiu is Oliver's Kiwi friend staying with him for a week. He's in Melbourne for a meeting.

Today's prompt is: PRETTY.

Harris smiled and then looked at Oliver. “Have you ever met Thomas Terrill?”
“No sir,” Oliver said without hesitation. “Didn’t know him.”
Jones took the photo, and Harris sat back. “Mr Thomas Terrill was killed in a car accident last week. Although we found drugs in the car, Mr Terrill was clean. However, we found the brake cable had been tempered with. If you know and can think of anything that might help us, we’d appreciate your input.”
She thought for a moment, trying to process the information she’d just been given. “At the moment I cannot think of anything, most likely because of the uncomfortable situation of being here.” Holding up the business card, she added, “But I will give you a call when I think of anything.”
“We’d appreciate it.”
They all stood and shook hands. The relief that washed over Rachel as soon as she exited the room was so intense she held on to Oliver for a brief minute.
“Are you all right?”
“It’s the adrenaline causing me a rush of light-headedness.”
“Need a drink of water?”
“No. Just let’s get out of here. Can’t say it’s a place I like. Haven't got pretty memories of being here.”
He chuckled as he checked his watched.
“And you have the appointment to check on junior.”
Oliver placed an arm around her shoulder and gently pulled her closer to him. Placing a kiss against her forehead, he said against her skin, “I’ll kill you if you spill the beans to anybody.”
“Yes, honey. My lips are sealed.”
As soon as they stepped out of the building, Rachel said, “I’ll get the bus home. There’s a bus stop only a few minutes from here.”
“Sure?”
She nodded and moved out of his arm. “A hundred percent. You’ll better get the appointment.”
“I owe you.”
Shaking her head, she replied, “No you don’t. I wouldn’t even know how to thank you for coming along today.”
He took her head into his hands and placed another kiss on her forehead. “Promise me you’ll be fine on that bus.”
“Frank’s dead, remember.”
“Yes, but the way it sounds not by choice.”

“What are you saying?”

  3. Frank isn't Thomas Terrill, right? Sounds like someone was murdered. And no one seems to have a clue as to who did it. Looking forward to getting more info and finding the murderer.

  4. Not being dead by choice made me giggle a little. And more than a little curious. Lovely snippet.
